Filler
Filler is a substance composed of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance, which can be used to enhance facial features, restore lost volume, or reduce the appearance of wrinkles or folds.

Treatment Time
30 minutes-1 hour; filler is completed under local anesthetic in an office setting. If combined with other procedures it is possible to receive filler under general anesthetic.
Treatment Areas
Common treatment areas include but are not limited to under the eyes, temple, lips, upper cheek, and jawline. Treatment zones are tailored to areas of patient concern.
Benefits
Filler is a well tolerated, generally safe, and long lasting procedure for a variety of facial concerns that are best approached non-operatively. Results last for between 12-18 months and patient satisfaction is high.
Technique
After determining a tailored treatment plan areas of injection are marked. Local anesthetic may be used to decrease pain. Filler is introduced with a needle deep within the tissues to minimize risk. Clear postoperative instructions are given.
Recovery
Patients are initially bruised and swollen which subsides over a few days. Final results can be expected after 1-2 weeks depending on the area of treatment.
Risks
Filler use is not without risks. Besides local swelling and bruising the main serious risk is intravascular injection causing tissue death. Dr. McGuire is well versed in facial anatomy which helps reduce this serious risk.
Who are the best candidates?
Patients who are otherwise healthy, have clear goals of treatment, and have realistic expectations. Patients should also have good skin quality and understand that fillers are not a permanent solution to facial imbalance.
Adjunct Procedures
As filler is minimally invasive it is easy to combine filler with other procedures either surgical or non-surgical. Filler can be combined with botox in a safe and effective manner.
